			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>About 1 year ago I started looking for a space to train in because I was injured and wanted to teach people the art of BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU&#8230; 2 months later I found a spot and on August 24th taught my first seminar there. It was a 3 hour seminar on the basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and we worked a lot of guard attacks.</p>
<p>2 days later I was off teaching 3 days a week and slowly getting my strength back to start training as well. I have had close to 80 students in total come through those doors to train with me in these short 10 months of training. About 30 of them stayed and now I have a solid foundation of awesome students that I look forward to training EVERYDAY!</p>
<p>I came back to <a href="http://www.clockworkbjj.com">CLOCKWORK BJJ</a> to train with my coach Josh Griffiths and have trained with a bunch of other black belts along the way. It has been an amazing journey. But this journey has a new path that it is taking.  We are starting construction on our new location for <a href="http://www.omgmma.com">On My Grind MMA</a>. We will have a full 6-7 days of classes and our program will include No Gi Grappling, Gi Brazilian jiu jitsu, Strength and Conditioning, Striking, Womens bootcamp and eventually kids classes!</p>
<p>Our new location will be almost 3000 square feet and will have close to 2000 square feet of mat space. It will be a dream come true&#8230; FOR ME AT LEAST and hopefully for you too! We will be the <a href="http://www.omgmma.com/schedule">BROOKLYN BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU</a> I always wanted!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>People start training for many reasons&#8230; Some to get in shape, Some to learn a skill, some because they want to compete, but ever since I opened up this gym I noticed that many people want to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and mixed martial arts for the purpose of self defense.</p>
<p>Brazilian Jiu Jitsu not only give you the skills to diffuse a confrontation physically but it gives you the confidence and swagger to let the person know that your not one to be messing with.</p>
<p>Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has saved many people on the streets and in combat situations. I read a story about a kid who saved his sister from a rabid dog by using a Rear Naked Choke to make the dog pass out and leave his sister alone.</p>
<p>Recently there was also a story about a police officer being saved by a BJJ instructor from a criminal that was completely overwhelming the offer with punches and kicks on the ground.</p>
<p>Those are just some of the recent occurrences that made the news, but think about all of the situations that people prevent in their usual lives that aren&#8217;t reported to the authorities. Kids preventing their own bullying, women stopping rape, men protecting their women, and the possibilities are endless.<br />
So guys don&#8217;t be shy come check out a beginner class at your local Brazilian jiu jitsu gym, or mixed martial arts studio.</p>

Its been 6 months now since I have been open, and the group is growing with amazing new individuals everyday! The guys and girls love the training, and they all see changes in their fitness and in their everyday lives!  I will focus on making my students lives better in every aspect that I can, form nutrition, to fitness, to self defense, competition and how can you forget fun!</p>
<p>I always wanted to train <a href="http://www.omgmma.com">BJJ in Brooklyn</a> and I figured a lot of other people would too&#8230; This program was a dream come true for me, because I know it will change peoples lives and make them better! I knew something was missing though,  So I also made <a href="http://omgmma.com">Muay Thai in Brooklyn</a> !</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>About a month and a half ago I got an injury during training and I knew right away it felt serious. My range of motion was severely impacted and swelling was ridiculous. So right away I took off of training and started feeling down on myself. I mean it was the beginning of the summer and I was injured. All I want to do in the summer is train BJJ, and get a tan.</p>
<p>One of those was completely cut out of my life for the time being because I wasn&#8217;t able to grapple. So I went to my acupuncturist and good friend Paul and He recommended a chinese herb to use on the injury to help expedite the process the better.</p>
<p>Usually when someone get an injury the magnitude of mine, it requires surgery, but 1 month after it happened my shoulder is about 85% back to normal and the range of motion is fully there. How did I do it?  It was actually very simple after you figure out what you have to do. Its a program just like any workout program but it had some key factors that could not be ignored, they had nothing to do with exercise.</p>
<p>All I am saying here is that its totally possible to heal up a almost fully torn ligament without surgery, using exercises and homeopathic medicines. Stay tuned, I will release a How-To-Guide for rehabbing these pesky and time consuming injuries.</p>

Even though I missed the whole first week,  I managed to rally and pull up a B+ for the final grade&#8230; Woo Hoo Go me!  As soon as school was over I started training. I was going hard for 2 days and on the 3rd day in a row, I was back to my awesome cardio and great timing. Everything was going awesome until I heard a tear and I winced in pain. I partially tore my bicep, thank god it wasn&#8217;t my rotator cuff.<br />

It has been about 3 weeks now since that happened and this weekend I was up in Bridgehampton, getting some really good rolls in with a few black belts, and purple belts. It was a great weekend! It felt so good to roll again, especially no gi, because of the heat.  Hopefully I can get back to training full time in the next week or so, I would love to compete 2-3 more times this year.  =]</p>

Where do I want to be?</p>
<p>I have been training a lot but I haven&#8217;t figured out what I really want to accomplish from this training and competing.</p>
<p><strong>With BJJ</strong> I want to get my Black Belt and have a school with 300+ students.<br />
I want my gym to have 100+ students in the first 2 years.</p>
<p><strong>With Nursing</strong> I want to get my BSN, then work for a year and get my NP license. Then I want to work in a private office or manage a private office.</p>
<p>These are my end goals.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #000000;">I started training really hard last few weeks and the day after promotions while rolling, I hurt my shoulder. So I took 2 days off and then got a heat stroke while going to the beach and working out outside. After all these occurrences I thought I was in the clear and then my hands started hurting in weird places.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">I decided to take a step back and start rehabbing and prehabing areas that need it. I started doing special rehab circuits for my shoulders, and the pain started dimishing almost instantaneously. For my hands was a little bit harder because at first I couldn&#8217;t figure out what hurt. Eventually I figured out it was my metacarpals and they hurt because my grips were strong making my flexor digitorum very strong. Yet even though my grips were strong I was totally neglecting the other side of the my hand/forearm called the extensor digitorum. I have been strengthening it for 1 day so far and the hands are already feel better.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">I kept pre-habbing my neck and foot and started this new workout routine that I will share later when I start seeing progress&#8230; Cant wait to get back into training! </span></p>

Summer school was starting on the 28th of May and I was determined to ace this class so I can move onto my clinicals. So I come in May 28th which is a Thursday, and I am the only guy in class. Also it is the 2nd day of classes, so I already messed up at least 4 hours of class. Summer school counts a day for about a week. Im sitting there and the class is crowding up with religious Jewish girls, and now I&#8217;m getting a bit worried thinking I don&#8217;t belong here, but I stick it out until the professor gets there. He says &#8220;You don&#8217;t belong here, so don&#8217;t try to hustle the nice Jewish girls&#8221; WTF!</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">So I sign up to a different class that is on Mondays-Thursdays, and I missed 16 class hours already, and to add to the excitement I have an exam on tuesday for lab practical and a classroom exam on wednesday. I just finished the second exam as I am writing this and I think I did great. I sacrificed the weekend but came in pretty prepared for this stuff.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Yesterday were promotions, congratulations to all the new blue and purple belts in the school, and Mr Vin for getting his brown. On the training aspect of life, I am training 5 days a week and 2 days of strength and conditioning. Right now I am feeling great about this, so this will keep up. With the help of my good friend and strength and conditioning Advisor Hollywood Dalid, I formed a program to last me for the next 4-6 weeks. Then I will assess my gains, and we will create a new one. I would like to compete at least twice a month after summer school is over.</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Past 2 years and some odd months, I have been contemplating about my future, and I know that I want to do BJJ for the rest of my life. As soon as I finish my nursing degree and get the education that I want to get, if all goes well,  I will probably have my black belt already or be awfully close to it.</p>
<p>I realized yesterday that I am not competing or even training at my capacity, if their even is such a thing and I need to pull myself together and just make my dreams come true instead of waiting for it to happen. I want many things in my future, but the dreams that are pertaining to BJJ are simple. I want to win a lot of titles, I want to have my black belt, I want to win at a black belt level. I want to own a school, with 500 students in more than 1 location. For me to reach these goals, I will need to put in a lot of effort and I am totally willing to do it.</p>
<p>Last few days training have been eye opening and mind blowing. I will continue to learn at this pace for as long as I can. I am very &#8220;on fire&#8221; for learning and making things happen right now. =]</p>
